Bug Type Restricted Sparring (Monotype) Pokemon Sword and Shield
So here's a funny story. While preparing to make this video, I got a message from a friend asking me to transfer some stuff for him into Sword and Shield. A very common request.
At that point, I had Durant and Pede for Bug Restricted Sparring in the Isle of Armor, but I wasn't quite sure what to use as a physical sweeper. And then it hit me. Among the things asked to be transferred was Espada, a shiny Scizor RNG'd by my old friend porta_14/Jellal. It is a shiny in a Safari Ball, RNG'd back in Fire Red's Safari Zone.
Furthermore, there is a new Tutor move in the Sword and Shield DLC called Dual Wingbeat. Dual Wingbeat is a double hit move that gets powered up by Technician. Everything clicked together in my head, and I had a team ready to go for this new challenge.
So let's talk about the challenge itself. This is essentially a spin on PWT Type Expert in Black 2 and White 2, where the AI isn't type restricted and you have limited healing across five consecutive fights. You can only heal immediately after to fights. This means you have to time things properly to avoid wasting a perfectly good heal when your team is in good shape.
I went with Truant Durant as always, but as you can tell from the video I slipped up a few times. This is because I use the PP on Protect and Swords Dance during the buff phase to keep track of what move to do next. All in all though that wasn't a big deal. I managed to win on the first try.
For clearing five consecutive wins in a given Restricted Sparring the first time, you are given about fifty BP combined. You are also given the option to keep going for some reason but are not promised any healing. For that reason I voluntarily stopped by streak at that point.
And yes the t-posing Scizor screenshot was done on purpose
