Yeah I'm doing one of these now, they're fun lol.

This is a timelapse of my most recent RimWorld playthrough, where I played as a recluse mechinator self-insert character. For the most part, my character would be alone except for his mechanoids, though on occasion I would have some other people living here as well.

The story of the character is that he went to undergo surgery on his home glitterworld, but woke up again on a barren rimworld far from home, similar to the Naked Brutality scenario. My character had nothing but a mechlink, and having relied on servant mechanoids all his life, he knew not how to really do.. anything on his own. But, he had to find his way home again, and so he began trying to figure out how to do everything.

Barely surviving, researching in between foraging and building, he soon learned how to build the machines that would allow him to gestate a small set of worker mechanoids to help him survive, after which he could devote much more time to research.

This continued, as he grew more and wealth and knowledge, reaching spacer tech in only a short decade. He defeated the strongest commanders that the local mechanoid cluster could muster, and took their tech for himself, becoming the mechlord he was meant to be. Finally, he was prepared to return home. He began construction of a spaceship that could take him home once more, but before completion he cam across a discovery. He sent up a small satellite in order to survey the local space, only to discover that the planet he found himself on looked eerily familiar.

He found, to his immense dread, that he was far away from home not by distance, but by time.

(At least, that's the canon ending I decided on since the game is now refusing to load and I am unable to finish the campaign by blasting off with the space ship as originally intended. Also this ending is kind of cool I guess.)

The music used for this video is Kevin MacLeods "Floating Cities". I had it lying on my PC since I'm using it for BFA2, and I could not be bothered to find something else.

On the note of BFA2, if you are one of the zero people waiting for more news on that, rest assured that I fully intend to finish it, but I have found that getting a masters degree is kind of mentally taxing and time consuming, so I haven't had much time to work on it over the last two years. The game is being worked on every now and then (like a few weeks per year) though, and at this point all but very few minor game systems are in place, and I pretty much just need to add all the planned content.
