Red Dead Redemption 2 [Gameplay #2] - Conviction
It's funny that Red Dead Redemption 2 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey were released in the same month, because rarely have two third-person action-oriented story-heavy open world games had less in common than Ubisoft's and Rockstar's creations. Both titles contain an almost absurd amount of content (optional and otherwise), but whereas even the so-called Exploration mode in ACO litters the mini-map with icons and notifications, RDR2 is all about discovering things as you go along. Rockstar does introduce a lot of fairly involved mechanics in rapid succession early on, but after the extended tutorial there's a much greater emphasis on the player sort of stumbling upon new systems and complexities naturally while playing the game. Despite this more measured pace, there's no escaping the daunting realization - time and time again - that the rabbit hole invariably goes deeper than you thought it would.
