The redbacks make gum-footed webs (which are not really visible in this video). The webs have taut vertical sticky threads attached to the surface below. Ants placed into the small plastic tank will run around aimlessly through the web "forest" and quickly bump into one of the taut threads. The thread breaks at ground level, lifting the ant into the air and leaving it hanging helplessly.
