We have already briefly set foot into the sewers, but now it is time to go through for real. We have discovered that it takes quite a few magnum shots to take down a sewer monster, so we won't be doing that again. Unless absolutely necessary anyway. Hopefully our Spark Shot will take care things for us since it seemed to work so well with Claire.
So, from our starting point, we decide to head closer that way. We are actually in a decent spot right now. We have a bit of shotgun ammo and aren't feeling like we need to run from every little thing. But it doesn't last too long. While not actually running out of ammo, we are using it a bit quicker than we are gaining it. So, when it comes to the sewer monster section, we don't have much choice but to run past everything until we can get the Spark Shot.
This actually goes better than our attempt with Claire. With Claire, we got kind of trapped by a sewer monster, and had to use our defensive items defensively. With Leon we were able to be a little more proactive with our defense items and make it through better. However, when we reach the other end, the Spark Shot isn't waiting for us. Instead a Chemical Flamethrower is hanging out. Now we have a dilemma. The flamethrower may work well against the sewer monsters, but without realizing that we didn't have a means to deal with the upcoming plant monsters, we have a choice to make. We decide that the plant monsters will be the bigger threat, since we can just leave this area and never have to come back.
So, instead of taking on the sewer monsters, we rush past them. This doesn't work as well as the way in, since everything is awake now, but that's fine. We do burn through more healing than I would like, but perhaps we will need less of it in the future now. After hoovering up all the items we can, it is time to take on stage two of the Birkin boss fight.
Admittedly, we go in a bit under-prepared. We have a handful of shotgun and a bit more handgun ammo. We actually make it to a point where we have zero ammo and zero ways of doing damage to the boss. We try to do some baiting and luring and quick timing to get Birkin hit by the crane, but it didn't go well. So, we cave in and bring the magnum. It was meant to be a last resort, but we decide to use it for phase two instead. Things work out, but I am already regretting the magnum ammo we have used. Well, we have arrived, so now it is N.E.S.T. time. Let's see how this goes.
