28Resident Evil 2 is a survival horror game made by Capcom. It was released on January 25th, 2019 for the PlayStation 4 with an MSRP of $39.99 and Xbox One (with enhanced graphics and sound) at $49.99. The classic version of the game will also be available for download for owners of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Deluxe Edition or Complete Season-Pass holders on January 26th, 2019 as well as to those who pre-order through GameStop in North America or EB Games in Australia (the latter runs only until January 13th). There are no plans to release this title outside of these regions yet but it has been hinted that more information would come around March 1st, 2019; however it likely won't be released until the following year. The game takes place after Resident Evil 2 and before Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, both of which were direct sequels to the original game.
The protagonist of the story is Claire Redfield, younger sister to Chris Redfield from the first game, who's on her way to find him after he went missing during his investigation into the Umbrella Corporation. Also returning is Leon S. Kennedy, whom you control throughout most of the game; he's also looking for Chris after hearing that he was headed towards Raccoon City (the setting for this game). Gameplay has been mostly remade by Capcom using their RE Engine (which was previously used in "Resident 7"), meaning it features several puzzles including the traditional item fetch quests.
This game is rated M for blood, gore, intense violence, and strong language. This rating has been given due to the gruesome nature of this game as well as its use of several obscenities.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is a wonderful title that will have you on the edge of your seat at all times while also being able to immerse yourself in the action while still solving puzzles along the way. There are just so many aspects about it that makes it stand out from other horror games today while still retaining enough nostalgia to make fans nostalgic if they played any version prior to this one (including "Biohazard" and "BIOHAZARD"). The graphics feel smooth and lifelike, for example. If you’re looking to get into the game series, this game will be an excellent starting point thanks to its updated graphics and sound. The music matches the tone of each scene beautifully with ambiance that can still make you feel uneasy when exploring new areas--even when you're in plain sight of enemies, so it really does help create a sense of tension.
