Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Part 3
0Part 3. I liked this one more than the first. The first hearkens back to the original with a big main area to explore which is cool, but Revelations 2 adds the horror back in, at least for a bit. The game is unfortunately linear though the areas you explore do have a little exploration. The beginning of the game and even some segments later, especially with Claire and Moira, give me Saw vibes. Kind of like The Evil Within. The atmosphere is pretty damn spooky in the prison area. Gone is the visor for scanning and out comes the companion. Now you don't have to scan but you have a companion that can spot things. So instead of playing as Claire or Barry, you spend most of your time not in combat using Moira or Natalia. Moira is Barry's daughter and Natalia is some kid Barry finds on the island looking for his daughter. Both companions spot things and each is sort of capable in melee combat. It's a weird dynamic. They also introduce a crafting system, so not only are you looking for ammo for weapons and healing, you're also on the look out for chemicals and bottles and cloth to make things like molotov cocktails. At the end of each chapter you are awarded points, or BP, and can spend them in a skill tree. There's nothing all that amazing, but some small things that can go a long way with making your characters just a little more efficient. Like quicker dodge recovery, or healing items heal for a little more, or some small boosts to damage. It's cool and a nice reward system for playing well. The story is kind of similar to Revelations 1. You have an evil corporation performing bad genetic experiments, but this time it's Albert Wesker's sister, Alex, and she wants immortality. It's silly and stupid and super fun. There are also 2 endings, which I had no idea at the time of playing, but I think we got the happy ending. It's just as much fun as I thought it would be. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
