The company Retroid showed a new compact game console Pocket 2S. Like other devices of the manufacturer, it is aimed at emulating retro games from PSP, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn and other consoles.
Pocket 2S received a touch 3.5-inch IPS screen. It has been refined compared to Pocket 2+, eliminating blind spots. The quality of the panel itself has increased, but the characteristics have remained at the previous level: 640 × 480 pixels, 60 Hz.
A cross, A/B/X/Y, two triggers on the left and right (L1/2 and R1/2) and two magnetic contacts on the Hall sensors (also L3 and R3) are provided for control. There are also Select and Start buttons.
The Unisoc T610 is responsible for performance - it is not the most powerful solution, so you should not count on the stable operation of most PS2 and Wii games even with a reduced resolution. The console comes with Android 11 and a custom skin that offers a choice of emulators to load on first launch.
The battery capacity is 4,000 mAh, USB-C is used for recharging. There is also a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a slot for TF memory cards on the case.
Retroid Pocket 2S is offered in two memory options: 3/32 GB and 4/128 GB. They cost $99 and $119, respectively. Both versions are offered in six colors, including two transparent versions and a retro 16-bit variant. Pre-orders are already open on the manufacturer's website, the first batch is expected to be shipped on August 10.
