The Raiden Project Game Sample - Playstation
Original Air Date: May 11th, 2009
It's Raiden and Raiden II slapped on one CD with a few extra options to spice them both up. Being one of the earliest games released for the Playstation, this game didn't make much of an impression in the states due to its fairly limited release but I can say that it's a nice shooter for Playstation and has great ports of Raiden and Raiden II.
There isn't much in the way of extras. The ones of note are the preferences you can choose on how the screen is displayed and the option to have remixed music in both games. It's mostly just a no-frills adaptation, which is fine too. These games were awesome for their time and are still awesome, especially Raiden II... actually, Raiden II might just be a little too awesome. The attention to detail when you blow up stuff and the debris that spreads everywhere is as beautiful as it is distracting, and when your bullets are one color, the debris is similar, as well as other elements on the screen, it gets a little confusing. A lot of the stuff we dodge in this video is debris, mistaking it for incoming bullets!
This video shows samples of both Raiden and Raiden II on "Colonel" dificulty (default in other words, which is a little higher than the Arcade default). with remixed music on original hardware. Enjoy.
