R.I.P.off Kombat: Boogerman (SNES) Flatulent Swamps - Level 1 vs. Boogerman (Unlicensed) 1st Level
For those who don't know Boogerman, it's a game about this eccentric millionaire whose alter ego is a burping, farting, nose-picking, caped crusader. Seriously, to put it basic, you're a smelly hero who must save the world from shit using his amazing bodily functions, I mean literally. While the plot seems ridiculous, the result is a really fun and unique cartoony game, it's got this ridiculous but good comic book feel to it. We don't get too many games with toilet humor, I mean outside Japan because they also got a shoot 'em up called Toilet Kids and it's not the only example of toilet humor they get. While Boogerman was released only on everyone's favorite 16-bit consoles, the SNES and the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive (more recently, the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version was released on the Wii's Virtual Console), some pirate company calling itself Super Game made their own unlicensed port on the NES. The level designs are inspired by the real Boogerman game, but they are not exact replicas. The gameplay is similar, but it seems the burping and farting was removed, only leaving the nose-picking and what seems like spitting for a while after collecting a special item. The graphics are not really good. It plays similarly to the original, but it's like the essence of what was originally great and so fun in the 16-bit version was completely lost in the translation to 8-bit. A lot of people claim this was made in Russia, but there's no official confirmation.
Edit: I was informed by codeman38 that the bootleg is of Taiwanese origin instead of Russian. One of the programmers of the NES version has a blog post in Chinese here: http://hi.baidu.com/maxzhou88/blog/item/571b0150e8c0b56485352449.html Just use something like Google Translate to convert it in English, which doesn't give the best result, but what else can you do?
