A game that has quickly become one of my favorites, River City Girls 2 has no shortage of flashy combo fun. There's just the right level of simplicity and complexity, and it all comes together in all the hand-crafted environments. There very clearly was a lot of love and passion put into this series. The Guilty Gear characters are definitely the cherry on top.

The combo system can have some surprising depth. It may not be needed in a beat'em up, but it adds a limitless layer of fun, especially when you add Recruits(assists) into the picture, going around learning to style on enemies in a pseudo-open-world adventure where every area is an inspired arena. It's all so free and full of expression.

The game has had some good updates since launch, as well. 60 FPS, refining hitstun mechanics, and adding four-player online and rollback netcode. The entire game is playable online, so grab a friend and start comboing the streets together. Maybe one day I'll get to make a co-op combo video.

Shoutouts to @notsobrightgamer and @AriaMikado. Don't know them personally, but they have some good content on the game, such as tutorials going over the properties of every move, and combo videos.
