The plan is simple. Taking part in the Backpacker Rally challenge gave me pleasant memories of playing Stalker, so we're dusting off Achievement Astrid and going for the last achievement still on the board: survive 500 days. I haven't touched this file for months, so as we pursue that goal we'll be searching out all the unique recipes, making them, and finding the new prepper caches. I'm a task-oriented player, so this is all to help keep me focused while chasing a long-term goal.

This is the episode where post-apocalyptic ennui sets in hard. The initial plan was to burn through the remaining days by making more fully fleshed-out maps, starting in Forsaken Airfield. It should've been clearer to me just how difficult (and boring) this would be -- I even made mention of how much effort it would be given how large the zone is and how unfriendly its weather can be between the extended blizzards and fog. Nevertheless, Astrid persists. There is one pleasant surprise, with the Sports Bow just waiting to be picked up in one of the chopper crash sites (52:30). After that, it's a cavalcade of mapping, wolf encounters, and gazing at aurorae. Just for a bit of added spice, we also discover a new species -- a ghost wolf. One particularly unfortunate doggo spawned itself in the hillside on the island with the Island Cottage and couldn't leave despite aggroing on Astrid several times (incident starts 3:09:20).
