Rob Plays "The Great American Cross-Country Road Race" (C64)
Yup, that title is quite the mouthful (so to speak). However, here is "The Great American Cross-Country Road Race", a 1985 release by Activision, which can be considered a spiritual successor to the classic Atari 2600 game Enduro.
I'm quite a big fan of this one - it was one of those games I put a large chunk of time into as a kid.
Compared to other racers, it actually has a few unique points - having to plan which cities you'll pass through during your race, the changing weather (which I sadly didn't show here), the day/night cycle, and even having to watch your fuel levels - all combine to provide a bit more depth than one might not think was apparent here.
