
Robotech: Battlecry (Gamecube) playthrough Part 2
Well, I managed to finish that level from yesterday. It turns out, the direction I had to go... was literally where I was going the first time. Amazing. That's the worst of it. It game-overed me going THE RIGHT WAY so I assumed it was the wrong way. That fucks with your players. That's why you shouldn't have such a tight timer on a search mission, and an automatic fail state if they don't find the pinpoint location fast enough. A location that you don't give them ANY indication for.
But that's just one element of the awful design in this. Invisible walls, areas that spawn infinite enemy triggers on top of things you're supposed to defend, DPS races when your DPS is limited. Every part about this is just more and more frustrating. The actual one-on-one fight where the enemy has a giant f- you laser, that done a ton of damage, but you can't dodge, because it's a laser. Just... it reduces the game to cheese. This isn't fun. I'm not PLAYING the game, I'm forced to EXPLOIT it.
