Rogério Correia rejects “light amnesty”: “It’s time to wait for trial and punishment”

🏛 ️ Congressional Power | Congressman Rogério Correia (PT-MG) declared this Tuesday (September 9, 2025) that he opposes a proposal for a "light amnesty" for those convicted of the January 8th attacks. The statement was made upon arriving at the STF (Supreme Federal Court) to monitor the resumption of the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
According to him, the left has no interest in any of the amnesty versions. Currently, the opposition is working on at least three proposals.
The discussion around a "light amnesty"—as the opposition calls it—was mentioned by Senate President Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), who is considering a bill to reduce the sentences of those convicted, but without including Bolsonaro.
