We sell these ROKR brand 3D wood puzzle things at work. There's like a train and a truck and stuff like that but the Owl Clock got my attention! This one sells for $60 but I got it for half price. Cheep enough to test my curiosity.

Anyway, it took me maybe 5 hours or so to do. Lots of pieces, springs and gears. The clock part's kinda fake. I mean it's a battery powered movement doing the clock bit. The springs, gears and pendulum is all for a timer feature. That part is legit though, the pendulum acts as the escapement fork and clock springs (complete with wood ratcheting gears!) run the timer and bell ringer. The pendulum even has a spring loaded weight inside that can be moved up and down to adjust the speed. The kit could almost have been just the timer on its own. Doesn't need the clock bit and the same company has a legit mechanical (no battery) clock only model that we also sell but the owl just looks cooler!

Could make a cool gift for someone into puzzles or engineering? Takes some patience. I did break a few of the thinner wood parts and had to glue one of them back together!
