RTX 3070 Unboxing - The Stupidity Of Trying To Buy One, Dodging Scalpers & Rip-Off Pre-order Queues
Just an unboxing of my new RTX 3070 which is the Palit RTX 3070 GamingPro. My little story of the RTX scalping that's going on with Amazon. Amazon not even attempting to deliver direct to my door for a signature for an expensive Amazon order. And I also touch upon the shameful exploits of Scan Computers in the UK who are charging for products that they are say are in stock, give you a delivery date and then BS you with some dodgy pre-order shenanigans after taking your money.
I'll be doing some videos soon about the whole RTX price scaling that's going on with Amazon, showing the exact same Palit RTX 3070 card that I bought going for £300 more only a few hours after I bought mine.
There'll be a video follow up soon about the issue I mentioned about Amazon not attempting to deliver to my door. Which was even worse as the RTX 3070 that I bought cost £550 and was supposed to have had a signature on delivery and it was just left at the communal entrance to the block of flats where I live.
The whole thing about Scan computers in the UK taking money for items that they say are in stock and after you've paid they then put you on a pre-order list, is something I'll be making a video about. Not only did they do this for the Palit RTX 3070 card (the one in this video was the same model but bought from Amazon.co.uk) but they just done it again to me with the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X CPU which I paid for as an 'in stock' item then after payment I was put on pre-order list. Very disgusting business practice.
I made a mistake in this video, actually the whole video was probably one big mistake :) The back plate on the Palit RTX 3070 GamingPro and also the GamingPro OC is indeed metal, I think aluminium. There's also a splash of aluminium on the front shroud around the fans but the shroud itself is totally plastic.
After my first two days with this card I can say that I'm totally over the moon with it. I had an Nvidia RTX 2080 ti FE founders edition in the past and this Palit RTX 3070 is probably just about as powerful but is way quieter and noticeably cooler. In fact, I'm quite taken back by just how cool it runs. Under a heavy load in PUBG maxed out in Ultra, the back plate heats up but doesn't get hot like my old 2080ti did.
I'll be doing a whole bunch of testing with card for game graphics quality tests, resolution testing, upscale tests to 8K 60FPS, Ultra-wide and Super-wide game play etc. All done in my own unique way, which is just BS for unorthodox :) So keep an eye on my stuff.
