This is a pure test video. I'm comparing the differences between pre-amplifying an XLR studio condenser microphone with a microphone preamplifier that also supplies phantom power, in this instance the Saramonic SmartRig. Then doing the same thing but on the second go I simply power the XLR condenser mic with a cheap 48v phantom power supply by Neewer and then have the Sony FDR-AX100 camcorder do all the mic amplification with its inbuilt 3.5mm mic input.
The idea is to see what way produces the most noise and if there's any appreciable difference in tone between the two ways.
