Sagara with the Zanbatou sword is an alternative version of the regular Sangara who appears in Story Mode. He is a hidden character in this game, and can be unlocked and selected.

===== About Sagara with Zanbatou =====
He's definitely a 'bonus/extra' type character, because this version of him has very limited moves. It's understandable because the main purpose of this character is to be a Story mode CPU opponent.

Even though he has a long strike range with his large sword, the moves are actually quite slow and takes a long time to recover. His Mountain Splitter move however, inflicts massive depletion if it lands - it takes off about 75% of the opponent's energy!

Rurouni Kenshin: Ishin Gekitouhen is based on the manga/anime series. The characters seem to be represented quite well in 3D. People who know the manga/anime series will instantly recognize the in-game 3D models.

The gameplay is a mixed bag, as it is somewhat 'stiff', meaning that it's not smooth/flowing. But this kind of works in the game's favor because it's one of those fighters where you have to use strategy and think about your next move instead of just rushing in.

The game has a pretty good story mode which features cut-scenes anime style. However it is just one story, and in this mode, you can only play as Kenshin or Sanosuke.
