Critical Blow [PS1] - play as Hagane
This is a play-through using Hagane in the PS1 game Critical Blow. Read on below for more information...
Hagane is a hidden character in this game. He is an unlockable playable character.
===== About Hagane =====
Imagine what Ryu from Street Fighter would play like in this game, and you'll find that Hagane is your answer.
He seems to be one of those 'dead serious martial artist master' type designs... you know the traditionally strict Japanese martial artist who only fights worthy opponents.
I found him to be a very good character to use indeed, his Dragon Punch is a good anti-air, his fireballs travel at a speedy pace, has some hard-hitting moves, and having a big frame means that he has good range in his moves, particularly his kicks.
===== About Critical Blow =====
Critical Blow is the sequel to Genei Tougi: Shadow Struggle. It's a good game, and the whole thing is very well rounded off. Perhaps a unique aspect of this game is the Card system which you can use to 'customize' an existing character (somewhat).
Whilst the game graphics is 3D, it plays like a 2D fighter, e.g. Street Fighter style. The gameplay feels complete and well polished. If you asked me to sum up the gameplay, I would call it a mix of Rival Schools and Street Fighter.
During fights, I do like the 'angled perspective' camera view when the screen scrolls towards the left or right edge.
