Saints Row devs hit back over reboot criticisms
1‘Saints Row’ developer Volition has told fans it’s “not backing down” over the reboot.
The reboot was announced at Gamescom last week with a CG trailer, and many fans have been divided over the direction the reboot is taking, with the trailer having more dislikes than likes across various YouTube channels.
Fans have also taken to Twitter to express their disappointment with the reboot announcement, but developer Volition has responded to several posts to defend the game.
One user wrote: “If anything I'm not a hater, I've been defending you guys since people called you a "GTA Clone" which wasn't true at all.
“Now I feel like I wasted my time defending you guys. As the boss once said "The Saints use to mean somethin, only mf that seem to rememba that is me and Gat".
To which Volition replied: “We are not backing down on this game. We get it, it’s new and it’s a shock reaction to a reboot like no other.”
Another fan shared: “Normally, reboots share something similar to their original games. “Why make a reboot when the game is nothing like Saints Row. It makes no sense, just call it something else.
“They did it just to hype up clingy fans and make more $. They’re fooling people into thinking it’s SR.”
To which Voltion’s response was: “Doing a reboot like no one has ever done a reboot before… pretty Saints Row if you ask us.”
