‘Horizon Forbidden West’ has been delayed until February 18, 2022.

During the Gamescom Opening Night Live event, developer Guerrilla Games confirmed the upcoming title’s delay and explained that they needed more time to polish the game, having been impacted by the global pandemic.

In a follow-up post on the PlayStation Blog, Game Director Mathijs De Jonge further expanded on the team’s decision to delay the game.

He wrote: “It’s no surprise that our teams were hugely impacted by the global pandemic; we have been adjusting to new workflows, protocols, and other challenges, while keeping our teams safe and prioritizing a healthy work/life balance.”

He continued to say that while the decision to move the game’s launch to 2022 wasn’t easy, the team would like to thank all fans for their unwavering support, and they know how much players have “been looking forward to reuniting with Aloy and her friends, continuing her story, and exploring a new and more dangerous world.”

‘Horizon Forbidden West’ will release for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on February 18, 2022, with pre-orders starting on September 2, 2021.
