A unique partnership between the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and The Salvation Army in Austin has resulted in the donation of art and beautiful, custom furniture for The Salvation Army Rathgeber Center, a recently dedicated low-barrier family shelter. The Rathgeber Center was built on land donated by Dick and Sara Rathgeber and will provide shelter and on-site support services to approximately 664 adults and children per year. “We select one group to help every year,” said Cody Rackley, ASID Texas Chapter Austin Design Community Chair. “The Salvation Army’s Rathgeber Center is a perfect project to get involved with because of the focus on the increasing need to house individuals going through a crisis in our community. Being able to make an impact in people’s lives at their lowest point is very important to us and we are thrilled to be able to use our professional abilities in this way.”
