Saving everyone and everything | Red Dead Redemption 2 | Episode 3
This game is different; this game is making me learn to make more decisions, and this game is making me realize that there are situations we can't turn back from. This game is a sheer example of things we do even if we don't want to. Arthur seems to be tied to a loophole from where he can't just walk away. He's no saint, but he has a heart; he's a grown-up man who understands. Arthur cares for the gang members, doesn't matter who is capable or who's not. He treats everyone equally.
There are situations where he could've just stopped caring and just walked away and ordered around everyone because he's the power, but as a player, you can choose a different path, a more time-consuming but non-violent one. Maybe I'm just tailing the drunk priest to ensure he's safe. Maybe I'm just going after my old lover's brother to save him because Arthur cared for that kid deep inside, while he'd deny that. Maybe he's saving Micah just for the sake of the Dutch, even after the root inside Arthur. Arthur is an icon of a responsible man. Who's direct, self-respectful, and loyal.
In today's playthrough, we had to play poker, which I wasn't totally ready for, and I'm so bad with card games as I feel too lazy to learn these things. But we managed to beat the game. After saving Reverend Swanson, we spotted a letter from a dear old lover. Looked like she had been in the nearest town for a while; we paid a visit to realize she was here to get her brother back. We went on another saving spree to save her brother, and I would admit that was quite a save as we just had to save that man from himself. We went for some robbing operation afterward in which we successfully stole a wagon and got our pocket full of cash. We went to the nearest town to save another gang member John who got arrested a few days back with Javiar and a few other mates. I don't understand the sneak mechanism in this game quite much as enemies tend to get alerted even after making super low noise or movements. They are mostly in proximity alert mode; they are not very intuitive.
We met Black Belle, a legendary woman gunslinger who took over a swarm of men in front of us without any problem. It was almost like an interview session where we got to experience how brutal she was. Also, we got a photo of her.
So much more exploration, investigating a nearby barn with Javiar and helping strangers on our way to every location. Red Dead Redemption 2 feels complete to me every hour I play it.
