Scorched Planet Setup Guide with Dosbox-Rendition and RReady Rendition Verité
Note Scorched Planet at the time of this video post has minor glitches
00:00 Title
00:08 Copy SPlanet game folder from CD to C:\DOS\SPlanet
00:41 Copy contents of SetSound folder from CD to game folder
01:08 Disable ICR2 auto-run if present (everything after mount c c:\dos amd c:) needs to be cut (not copy as shown in the video) out and pasted into a batch file (c:\dos\icr2.bat)
01:49 Run cmd prompt to run notepad c:\dos\ircr.bat and paste
02:28 Ensure Dosbox-Rendition starts up at the mounted DOS folder (C: for almost everyone who followed @gplaps guide and V: for me)
02:48 Configure sound for SPlanet (make sure you copied the files from the SetSound folder directly into c:\dos\splanet, see 00:41)
03:20 Check splanet.ini to make sure video=video. If this doeesn't work, it might have to be changed to c:\splanet\video (or in my case v:\splanet\video. This driver letter is the drive that's visible in dosbox and not the window driver letter which is why there's no c:\dos\splanet).
03:36 Download the SPlanet Rendition Verité patch from here: https://archive.org/details/SPVEIS . Extract it's contents and paste them directly into c:\dos\splanet, overwriting the existing spverite.exe and any other files in c:\dos\splanet. The Rendition version of the game will not run off the CD based install.
03:50 Create auto start batch file for splanet. This needs to contain
set SPEEDY3D_DMA=0
cd splanet
spverite
(This game must be told to run in FIFO mode hence the SPEEDY3D_DMA=0)
04:57 Manual startup instructions for running icr2 and splanet
05:00 auto startup commands for splanet
05:05 Auto startup commands for icr2
