Sega Master System M404 Prototype BIOS goes weird
3This was recorded on an actual model 1 Master System with BIOS version 1.3 (the one with no built-in games except for the hidden snail maze game) and using a Master Everdrive.
On a whim, I wanted to know if it'd be possible to load the BIOS ROMs via Everdrive. Sure enough, it was, though the M404 Prototype BIOS showcased some very odd behavior when the copyright notice appeared on the screen: it seemed to also be doing the sequence for the standard model 1 console BIOS, albeit with what graphic data it could get from the prototype ROM. Amusingly enough, I could still play the snail maze game, though it was a lot harder due to the walls being invisible (I used a map, if you must know).
This behavior only occurs on my model 1 Master System. Running the BIOS on my Mega Drive has it play just fine, though it predictably softlocks at the end.
