Seijin Plays FFT 1.3034 Easytype, Part 1 : Orbonne Monastery
Please read the description first.
Final Fantasy Tactics 1.3 is a fan-made patch. It basically aims at two things. First and foremost : rebalance the game (removing "broken" abilities, making weaker classes/abilities better, changing stuff around, adding more interesting enemies in story/random battles, etc). And last but not least : to make the game harder.
You see, once you know the ins and outs of the game, it is far too easy, even without using the broken abilities. The community wanted more. A website dedicated to hacking FFT was made. It is called "Final Fantasy Hacktics", look it up! There are various projects (FFT 1.3 is one of them, although most others are incomplete) and plenty of stuff related to FFT. At first, FFT 1.3 was mostly a community effort, but a man named Archael (YouTube username : Archael7) devoted himself in improving and balancing it further, regularly releasing new versions with new additions. Recently, the project has moved to a site called Insane Difficulty (www.insanedifficulty.com) due to some sort of conflict that I don't need to type about.
As far as FFT 1.3 is concerned, it is aimed at experts of the original game. And by experts, I don't mean "I use Orlandu and destroy everything, therefore I am an FFT expert". That's not skill at all. Only true experts who know the game deeply, can pretend to make it far in FFT 1.3.
Last year, I tried FFT 1.3. I didn't make it far at all. The first battle of chapter 2 destroyed me, and I barely made it there to begin with. I eventually gave up. However, I saw that an "Easy Type" version was made by a certain Philsov (YouTube username : philsovwastaken). It makes the patch far easier for players like myself who are confirmed players but not necessarily experts.
Information about the patch can be found at http://www.insanedifficulty.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10
As far as this video is concerned, well this is only the first battle. It's very easy. Don't get me wrong, this battle can be challenging in the regular FFT 1.3. Back then, I had one reset in this battle. It's absolutely easy in the easytype version, however. You might not even notice that it's any harder than the original game.
I have no clue whether I will reach the end of the game. As I explained, I played FFT 1.3 last year and didn't make it far, and then moved to the easytype version. I managed to reach the beginning of chapter 4 then, but still vaguely gave up-ish, as I moved to other games. Back then, the patch was on the 1.3030 version. Since then, there was a major new release when 1.3033 came out, with a lot of new things related to monsters, and the 1.3034 version fixed some small bugs. Philsov made the easytype version for 1.3034. As I am typing this, the 1.3035 version came out, which further changed some things related to monsters, but no easytype version of 1.3035 is out (yet), so at the moment, I am playing this version. I may upgrade if an easytype version of a newer patch comes out.
Most people seem to prefer when Final Fantasy Tactics videos are commentated. Which is true for strategy games in general because it helps to understand what the player is thinking, and is otherwise more entertaining because it's slow-paced, and all that. However, english is not my first language, and while I type it well, I don't speak it at all in real life, so it would make poor commentary. I covered all that in my channel description, but I thought it would be better to mention it here. Sorry about that.
In this playthrough, I will most likely use monsters on a regular basis. Monsters are, overall, a lot more useful than they were in the original game, and any single monster can be a perfectly viable party member if the situation is right. I will show every story battle, bar none, and I shall show some (but not all) random battles. Mostly the interesting ones.
One final note : I will not show any story scenes and will skip through the battle text quickly. As I am playing a patch of the game, I expect every single viewer to know the game already anyway. If you don't, you should play the game!
If you have comments or suggestions, don't hesitate.
