In Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, when using a sacrificial move like Selfdestruct or Explosion on an enemy Pokémon under a Substitute if the attack hits and breaks the Substitute, the user's picture will disappear as normal but the user does not faint.

This was one of several glitches documented on Azure Heights, unless I'm mistaken in the early days of R/B/Y and G/S/C.
