The 2nd stage of Yoshiaki's story in SB3: Utage, with English subtitles.

For this part, I tried to retune the way I was writing for Yoshiaki just a bit to make him sound more like EN Yoshiaki would. When I upload these, there's always stuff I think "I could have done that better" when it's too late to edit it anymore.

Yoshiaki did good about remember names for the first stage, but as soon as we got to the 2nd stage he got everyone's name wrong except Ieyasu. It seems Yoshiaki only remembers your name if he wants something from you lol. When Yoshiaki gets a name wrong in Japanese, it's not really a joke, he just straight up says the wrong name. And the kanji doesn't seem to be any sort of pun either. I wouldn't be surprised if they were like, names of the dev team or something. It's like if he said the name "James" instead of "John". In English, his mix ups are much more comical, such as "Motor Teacup" for Motochika and "Silly Toupee" for Tsuruhime. So that's the route I went for this, and it was kind of fun to come up with names anyways. These are the names I went with.

Yoshitsugu - Yucky-Stew-Goo
Tadakatsu - Taco-Cat-Soup
Mitsunari - Mister Gnarly

I almost went with "Iron Ox" for Tadakatsu, but I feel that'd be breaking the trend. Plus I like how "Taco-Cat-Soup" really does sound like Tadakatsu if you say it fast. Yoshitsugu's was definitely the hardest to come up with something.

The dialogue just sort of stops entirely after Yoshitsugu and Tadakatsu leave the map. So there's a long stretch of nothing said after that point while I go around taking over bases and picking up health items. I actually replayed this stage since I didn't like my first recording and missed some of Yoshitsugu/Tadakatsu's dialogue by killing Yoshitsugu too quickly, which I had to do because they almost killed me. Even on this replay, they still almost killed me. But that's why this Yoshiaki is a higher level than the one you'll see in the next video. I'm also using his 3rd R2. You can see all of his R2s used in these 3 videos since I use his 2nd on the last one. His 3rd R2 is definitely my preferred, since his first two require precise timing to use effectively and I'm really not into that. Also I found out in this video you can jump cancel out of his L1+Triangle counterattack, if no one triggers the counter.

There's a lot of lines I see in these videos that sound similar to lines from SB:SH, but not exactly, and it's hard to tell if they're different but similar lines, or if they're the same lines, but changed. In those cases, I tend to just translate them more like how it's written than what I think the line MIGHT have been officially translated as. One example which you saw in the last video is a line Yoshiaki says where he goes "I only like people that like me!" I think that's his "I live by a very simple set of principles. Those I like, I treat well. Those I dislike, I kill." The dub changes joke character lines like Yoshiaki and basically all the Xavi guys quite a bit, to make them more, well, actually funny. You'll see that more in the next stage when I can list some more direct and obvious comparisons.
