Yeah, so normally the sequence of events is:
1) Get your stuff stolen by Death
2) Proceed through the Alchemy Lab and kill Slogra & Gaibon
3) Continue to the Marble Gallery and through into the Clock Room to talk to Maria for the first time
4) Continue to the Outer Wall, get the Form of Wolf, access the Library to buy the Jewel of Open from the Library
5) Use the Jewel of Open to get past the sealed door in the Alchemy Lab, and on the way to the Royal Chapel talk to Maria for the second time.
6) Continue through the Royal Chapel and fight the Hippogryph, talking to Maria for the 3rd time, where she tells you she's looking for Richter.
7) Proceed past the Royal Chapel and into the bottom half of the Castle Keep to get the Leap Stone, to double jump.
8) Return to the Clock Room and use the Double Jump to get up to the Colosseum behind the statue on the left of the room.
9) Find out Richter is "evil", kill Minotaur & Werewolf, and get the Form of Mist just past them.
10) Return to the Library, using double jump to reach an area you couldn't before, to fight the Lesser Demon and then use Mist Form to get the Form of Bat.
11) Return to the Clock Room and double jump up towards the Colosseum, but head right from the Spectral Sword and then use the Bat Form to fly up the tall shaft just at the red door.
12) Continue through Olrox's Quarters to kill Olrox and get the Echo of Bat behind him.
13) Use the Jewel of Open to open a sealed door in the Marble Gallery so you can push a button to open the way to the Underground Caverns.
14) Proceed through the Caverns, using the Bat Form to fly across the gap where the waterfall is in order to push a button that summons a Skeleton Ape into the room where the wooden bridge is.
15) Go to where the bridge is and have the Skeleton Ape throw an explosive barrel on it to destroy it so you can access the Abandoned Mine.
16) Proceed through the Abandoned Mine, killing Cerberus and continue through to the Catacombs.
17) Head right, using the Bat Form and Echo of Bat to navigate a dark room lined with spikes, continuing on to get the Spike Breaker Armor.
18) Use the Spike Breaker Armor in the Royal Chapel to get through the spiked hallway you see here, meeting Maria for the 4th time and telling her Richter is evil, having her run off while you get the Silver Ring.
19) Equip the Gold Ring and Silver Ring in the Clock Room to open up a passage below, leading to your 5th encounter with Maria, who admits you're right, fights you to test your strength, and gives you the Holy Glasses.
20) Return to the Castle Keep and fly up to face Richter, equipping the Holy Glasses to see the thing controlling him and destroy it to free him and open up the inverted castle.

However, the way I did it was:

1) Skip Death in order to keep my things
2) Proceed through the Alchemy Lab and kill Slogra & Gaibon
3) Continue to the Marble Gallery and through into the Clock Room to talk to Maria for the first time
4) Continue to the Outer Wall, get the Form of Wolf, using it to gain farther access through the Clock Tower than intended, so I can farm the Muramasa, then returning to the Clock Room and uing the Wolf to jump kick off a candle to access the Colosseum.
5) Encounter an evil Richter and fight Minotaur & Werewolf to get the Mist form past them.
6) Go to the Library for the first time, buy the Jewel of Open, and use the Wolf again to reach up to the ledge to fight Lesser Demon and get the Bat form.
7) Use the Jewel of Open to access the Underground Caverns, and use the Bat Form to open the way to the Abandoned Mine to fight Cerberus and get the Walk Armor.
9) Use the Bat form to reach the Succubus and kill her for the Gold Ring.
9) Go to the Royal Chapel and use the trick you just watched in this video in order to get the Silver Ring, triggering the 4th intended encounter with Maria (though it's only our second actual encounter), have her ask if we found Richter and us saying he's evil, despite her never having told us she was looking for Richter yet.

And that's pretty much been the sequence for this playthrough up to this point. By this point I haven't even properly done that 2nd meeting with Maria that I was supposed to do (where I soft-locked last vid), yet here's the 4th meeting with Maria just after our 1st meeting with her. These sequences/vids are all being posted in the order they were recorded. If you're familiar with the game's naturl progression, this'll get weird for you lol.
