– GAME OVERVIEW –
Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention for the Sega Genesis is a strategy role-playing game (SRPG). It was developed by Climax Entertainment and Sonic! Software Planning (now Camelot Software Planning), and published by Sega (now a company within the Sega Sammy Group). The game was released in North America on July 13, 1993.
This version has been made available for the Nintendo Virtual Console (VC) service, namely:
Wii – Region: North America – Release Date: July 23, 2007
It was also part of the Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) lineup for Sega Genesis titles on October 25, 2021, as well as included in the Sega Genesis Mini.
• Following Shining in the Darkness (シャイニング&ザ・ダクネス, lit. Shining and the Darkness) (1991), Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention is the second installment in Sega's Shining (シャイニング) series.
• Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention centers on the Shining Force – protagonist Max and his allies – as they battle the evil Darksol and the hordes of Runefaust to save the Kingdom of Guardiana.
• Battles in Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention are fought on a square grid, with each unit occupying one square.
◦ There is also an exploration mode that takes place outside of combat. This mode allows the player to walk around, interact with people, find treasures, buy equipment and items, and so on.
• Over the years, Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention has been re-released several times as a standalone game and in various compilations on different platforms.
◦ Amusement Vision (now Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio) remade it for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance (GBA) (2004) under the title Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon (シャイニング・フォース 黒き竜の復活).
