Shining In The Darkness Part 4 ( Cave of Courage Part 1/2)
In the fourth part of my Playthrough of Shining In The Darkness I get to and explore the Cave of Courage's east path.
There are a few notable things to cover including the introduction of MP draining moss that takes away one Mp per step though walking into a wall prevents you from losing a a point when turning around a corner.
There are a number of new enemies encountered in this part.
The first of the new Enemies is the Stinger they have higher attack than anything in the last area, are quite fast and can cast slow on a party member lowering their speed and defence.
Killer Gnome's have slightly higher attack, defence and hp than Stingers but are a bit slower, they have an ability to call in more Killer Gnomes into a fight with each one being worth full xp and gold can make fighting them quite rewarding.
Wild Orc's have higher attack than Killer Gnome's but have much lower Hp and defence, thier only special ability is to defend meaning as long as you have decent gear they are pretty harmless.
Hydrax are a major danger as they have the ability to attempt to paralyze your entire party meaning a single one could cause a game over though that is quite unlikely it's best to take them out of the fight either with sleep or by outright killing them.
Clodhopper's are able to hit decently hard but that's all they really do just treat them like any other physical attacker.
Nightstalker's are the elemental attacking mob and are able to unleash a breath attack that works like Blaze 2 hitting the whole party for around twelve damage each, to make matters worse they have decent attack, defence and hp, taking them out efficiently is important so keep an eye on your party's damage ranges when attacking.
Grimfowl have slightly more attack and speed than the Nightstalkers but lower defence and hp making it slightly easier to kill them off, their basic attack can inflict Paralysis so keep that in mind when fighting them.
Minitour's have the highest health, attack and speed of any basic encounters and have the ability to cast quick 1 on themselves to raise their defence and speed, while they can be a problem when you first encounter them they are far from the most threatening enemy in the Cave of Courage.
A new part wouldn't be complet without a mini-boss of sorts would it?
Cyblok is a mini-boss type enemy that can appear anywhere in the northern parts of the Cave and while they have a bit of a entrance they are a bit unimpressive While they have thier hp is high it is lower than the Chestbeak's found in the last trial, their high attack isn't as threatening due to an inability to double attack and while their defence and speed are quite good they are a vulnerable to slow as any other monster and it lacks any really nasty abilitys.
