Shining In The Darkness Playthrough Part 3 ( Cave Of Strength)
This is the third part of my Shining In The Darkness Playthrough and covers the entirety of the Cave of Strength.
The monster line up isn't anything too nasty yet but as with all other parts I'll cover the new monsters.
Dark Hermits are the weakest of the new enemies with no nasty tricks to watch for and a rather low attack for this point game.
Neanderthals can hit quite hard if your defence is lacking but otherwise lack any notable traits.
Widowfang are slightly Bulkier than Neanderthals and have a low chance to inflict poison with their basic attack still by this point that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Cave Goblin is a bit of a pest it has a slightly higher attack than the Neanderthals, has the ability to crit and might guard reducing the damage you inflict to them.
Triklops need to be killed quickly they have a special ability that drains away your casters Mp something you can not afford to let happen.
Vampyre don't seem too bad at first glance as while they have decent attack power they don't seem to do much else but beware as their basic attack inflicts paralysis that will prevent a character from acting until cured, persists after combat for a few steps and if all three characters get paralyzed it's game over so make them a priority and hope they don't appear with Triklops.
Skeletar have the heighest attack out of all non-mini-boss enemies in the Cave of Strength and are pretty durable to add a little extra danger they also have a chance to inflict poison though by the time you start encountering them they are likely the least of your worries.
Punkinheads are the first enemy with the ability to heal though aside from that they are a little lacking in stats compared other monsters at this point, either kill your targets in a single blow or find a way to prevent them from taking a turn or fights will drag on.
Vile Ooze like Punkinheads these things have slightly low stats compared to what you encounter alongside them however they have the nasty Freeze spell letting them hit someone for around ten hp so don't let them stick around any longer than you have to.
DeathGuides are the first foe that will attempt to put all your party to sleep, they also happen to have the most hp and defence of any non-mini-boss enemy making them annoying to take out.
Alongside the returning Kiser Krab which can now appear from any left turn there are two new mini-bosses to beat you down.
Killwave can appear from puddles, They have high attack when you can first encounter them, can attack twice per round and have Freeze 2 which will hit your whole party for ten plus damage each time as well as having quite a bit of hp, at this point just attack, heal and hope Pyra's Slow actually hits it.
Chestbeak is a very powerful enemy when you first encounter it has very high hp, attack, defence and resists magic as well but as if that wasn't bad enough their basic attacks can also inflict sleep as if all of this wasn't bad enough it appears in set chests throughout the whole Cave of Strength meaning you can end up fighting one as one of your first encounters in the area leading to a nice and quick game over.
