I uploaded Lambda by Tchotchke about 9 months ago, which surprised me in its consistent quality that kept up for over 2 minutes. It was more of a random effect level, but their new work, Shinkansen, has more of a theme throughout. The theme is just like the name says, which is more commonly known as bullet train, more specifically the network of high-speed trains in Japan.

This level is also quite long, coming in at about 1:45 length, which is nice to see. Tchotchke once again did a good job of making every part as interesting as possible while keeping up the quality. A lot of the art seen in the level is on the simple side, such as the backgrounds, but they do their job well. In that way it's reminiscent of a Knots level. I like how most of the colors throughout the level is grayscale, since it keeps it cohesive, while mixing in a variety of other colors for details to keep it interesting.

One thing you notice watching or playing this is the unique gameplay in some parts. This is most evident at 0:55, where you essentially control the obstacles going up or down by either clicking or letting go. The next UFO part also has the obstacles move along with you. These 2 parts are most important to practice if you wanna beat this. There were a few things here and there that kept killing me, which made beating this a bit less enjoyable, such as the dash orb at 1:27 being too precise. If I hit it just a bit too early or late, the transition wouldn't work. That might be a bug with my refresh rate. With some of the unique gameplay in mind, I think this will be a Medium Demon, and it deserves an Epic rating in my opinion.

- COIN RATING -
Silver. 2/4. This level only has one coin, which requires some searching and is a bit more difficult than the normal route. It doesn't have anything original, though, and it's a bit on the annoying side at first.
• 1st coin: Silver. At 0:33, you can see a purple orb that fades to being invisible right as you go through the transition. Clicking this invisible orb right after the purple pad takes you to a key, and this starts the coin route. This allows you to use the dash orb at 0:39 shorter and go below the normal route. Getting this timing right is difficult because of the movement, which makes it a bit annoying. Once you've practiced it, though, and remembered where to let go, it gets consistent. There's another key down here, which unlocks the path to the coin right after at 0:41. The jump over the 2 spikes is a bit tricky, and then you hit the 2 red orbs to return to the normal route.
