"Deepvine Pass" (Demon) by J735 {All Coins} | Geometry Dash 2.11
Note: The coin path starts at 1:53.
It's not too often you see someone else than Rafer make a level similar to his style, but this is one of them. This has been approved by Rafer, who even helped J735 with some ideas. Stylistically, I can't say that this level is very original due to that fact, but the way J735 executed the style is very good. If you told me this was made by Rafer, I'd probably believe you, which says a lot about the quality.
The theme of the level is jungle, and that's clear in every aspect of the level. Everything from the colors to the art to the block designs and even the song match the theme. Vines are pretty much the main decoration, and I love how they're used. Some are animated to swing by, while others are found in the background foreground or block design. There's also some vines in the foreground to add depth to the level. The crazy movements and pulses are what define Rafer levels to me, and J735 did this really well. Just look at 1:14 to 1:40.
Another thing that defines Rafer levels is, of course, his gameplay. While beating this, I have to admit that I found it quite annoying, but that's not due to the gameplay itself being annoying. There were 2-3 refresh rate bugs that I encountered which led to some annoying deaths. Fortunately, J735 have fixed all of them now, so I'll have to say the gameplay is really good overall. Perhaps not as fun and clear as Rafer's best works, but not far away. This will most likely be an Epic Medium Demon.
- COIN RATING -
Viprin Certified. 4/4. Every Rafer level has complex coins, and that's no different here. I wanted to say, "Luckily, there's only one coin," but here that just means you have to do much more for a single coin. For the amount of effort, there could probably have been awarded 2 or 3 coins along the way. The coin rating is not dependent on the excessive effort required, though, as there's plenty of that here, but rather how original it is. With the normal route played at the start of the video, you should be able to see all the differences.
• 1st coin: Viprin Certified. At 1:59, you need to skip falling down onto the lower part of the platform, which is indicated subtly by the pulsing circle inside the upper block and a question mark sign above. Doing this disables some spikes above at 2:00, allowing you to go above the normal route, where there are some particles as a hint. At 2:02, you need to hit the red button, and then skip the blue orb. This takes you below the normal route. The lighter particles at 2:05 is to indicate that you have to click and hold from that point, which allows you to climb up the vine. Timing it and holding can be a bit tricky at first, but it gets consistent fast. This is an original concept. Returning to the normal route, there's now a yellow particle that destroys the lower structure at 2:12, allowing you to go above the normal route. This path makes you stay normal size rather than mini in the next Robot part, which enables you to skip the black orb at 2:19 and go above the normal route. Going through the Wave part at 2:21 as Robot gives you a brown box, which comes into play at 2:31. With it, you can use the vine, skip the Ship portal, and jump into the small gap. This jump is pretty difficult to time, and so are some of the jumps down here. Now, you stay normal size rather than mini at 2:38, allowing you to hit the lower structure, changing a later yellow pad into a red one. This is at 2:51, and takes you to a bomb, which is used to go through the floor at 2:55. I've never seen anything like this before either, so that's another original concept. Right after, you need to memorize which orbs to use, and the Ship is normal instead of mini. At 3:00, you can now drop down and get a key. This unlocks a completely alternate route at 3:21 by skipping the black orb, which lasts until 3:37, where you finally get the key. It's a bit more difficult than the normal route. Even Rafer hasn't gone through the hassle of making a completely different part that is longer than 15 seconds for any of his coin routes, so this is nice to see. Of course, the amount of effort required for just one coin is excessive, but that's how Rafer has set the bar for his levels, so I don't blame J735 for doing this much here. This coin features multiple original concepts, and is very difficult to find and get, making it worthy of a Viprin Certified rating.
