Many are the video games that have as one of their biggest selling points an amazing open world filled with side quests to complete, landmarks to discover, streets to drive around, and horizons to admire. Every game uses their open world in a different way but nearly all games that go have one try their best to make such lands as interesting as possible. I always asked to myself a simple question: if these digital worlds are so great, why not use them again as settings for future games? It must have taken months if not years to craft worlds seen in games like Cyberpunk, Elder Ring, and GTA V, just to serve as setting for a single game. Initially I believed that developers had their reasons not to recycle an open world, yet when The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom came out I understood that not only this can be done, but it can be done very well. The Yakuza Like a Dragon Franchise and Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 also are excellent examples that bring more validation to my point. In this video I explain why in my opinion video games should reuse the same open worlds from previous games of the same series. I hope you will enjoy the video! :)
