Police Quest III: The Kindred is the 3rd and final Police Quest game written and directed by Jim Walls prior to his departure from Sierra On-Line. It wraps up the story of Detective Sonny Bonds, opening with his promotion to Detective Sargeant, where a day of traffic duty turns into Sonny's Personal nightmare when Marie is attacked, and his investigation leads him down the rabbit hole of a death cult operating out of Lytton with connections to a certain dark shadow from Sonny's past.
Police Quest 3 is the middle ground between the strict police procedure adherence of the first game, and the cinematic, forensics-oriented style of Police Quest 2, focusing much more back on thorough police work and sleuthing to track down the death cult that is center to the plot of the game. It was released in 1991 using the SCI engine, and features a score by the legendary composer of Miami Vice, Jan Hammer.
The NPCs are playing Police Quest on the GOG.com DOSbox version with Roland MT-32 audio.
Sierra Saturday is a weekly series on the Level 0 NPCs channel, where Matt & Luke relive their childhoods playing classic adventure games of the '80s and '90s (and beyond?). Sierra adventure games were a special breed of dark humor, brutally unfair puzzles and unforgettable characters, and we hope you enjoy this walk down memory lane with us.
