About Game: Silent Hill 3 is 2003 third-person survival horror video game developed and published by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan for PlayStation 2 and Windows-based computers with HD remastered version of the game also being released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012 as part of the double pack that also included remastered version of Silent Hill 2. This is a third mainline entry in Silent Hill video game series and the direct sequel to 1999's Silent Hill. Upon release, Silent Hill 3 was a smash hit, having sold 300,000 copies within six months of its initial release and having been praised by the critics on account of its presentation while negative criticism was aimed at its short length and by some, on its lack of innovation regarding the gameplay elements which were heavily derivative of both Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2. However, just like its predecessors, Silent Hill 3 is hailed by many as definitive example of psychological survival horror in video games even to this day.
Story of the game is set 17 years after the events of Silent Hill and follows Heather Mason, a teenage girl raised by Harry Mason in the aftermath of his escape from Silent Hill, Maine with the newborn baby girl handed to him by dying Alessa Gillespie with two currently living in a town near Silent Hill.
While shopping in the local mall, Heather falls asleep in the burger joint built within the mall and has a nightmare in which she is pursued by grotesque monsters through decayed, rust-covered amusement park, eventually dying after being ran down by a roller coaster car. Upon waking up, Heather contacts Harry through a public pay phone, notifying him that she is coming home soon. As she gets off the phone, Heather is intercepted by a middle-aged man who introduces himself as a private investigator named Douglas Cartland and urges Heather to come with him as he has some information regarding her birth. Unnerved by his less than tactful approach, Heather seeks shelter within the mall's public bathroom and decides to evade Douglas by escaping through the bathroom window and circling her way back into the mall through employees' area. As she returns into the mall itself, Heather finds it eerily deserted, eventually finding a mysterious, grotesque monster feeding on a corpse within one of the mall stores. Finding a discarded handgun on the floor, Heather uses it to fend the creature off and kill it as it advances towards her. Continuing on, Heather discovers that the entire mall is now full of grotesque, hostile monsters. While looking for a way out of the building, Heather finds herself in the back of the mall once more and is confronted by a mysterious woman named Claudia who cryptically urges Heather to remember her "true self". Before Heather can inquire about the mysterious remark, she is overcome with a sudden, severe bout of migraine. As she writhes on the ground in pain, Claudia silently walks off, leaving Heather to suffer. Upon recovering, Heather follows after Claudia, eventually entering the elevator within the hallway which starts descending on its own. Upon stopping, elevator leaves Heather in the area eerily reminiscent of the one seen in her earlier nightmare. However, before Heather can even think about turning around, elevator door slams shut behind her, forcing her onward into the rust and darkness...
