0Upon regaining consciousness, James finds himself in the garden of Brookhaven Hospital and quickly realizes that the building's visage has changed to become even more desolate and creepy and that some of its floor plan has changed, also finding that Maria is no longer in the room where he had left her earlier. Upon returning into the hospital and heading down to investigate its basement, James is found by terrified Maria who takes offense due to his seemingly cold behavior towards her, begging him not to ever leave her again. Afterwards, two navigate through the hospital, eventually uncovering a hidden door leading into another section of the hospital basement. Upon descending into the area, two immediately come face-to-face with James' pyramid-headed pursuer and try to make a run for it, eventually reaching the elevator. However, while James manages to squeeze himself inside just as the doors start closing, Maria stays behind as James fails to stop the elevator from closing, only being able to watch on as Maria is murdered by their pursuer before the elevator takes him back to the upper floors...
