Simple Japanese Curry | Japanese Cooking for Idiots
Japanese curry is so tasty, and this simple recipe is no exception. Really straightforward to do. Just follow my recipe and instructions (feel free to improvise with different meat or veg).
Ingredients:
2 onions (finely chopped) - can use frozen pre-chopped)
1 tbs butter
1 tbs Olive Oil
Meat (sliced beef or sliced pork or diced chicken)
1/2 carrot
2 Charlotte or new potatoes
750 ml of water
1 soup stock cube
80g Curry block (curry roux)
1 tsp - Soy Sauce
1 tbs - vegetable oil
Instructions:
Fry onions in butter and olive oil. You want them nice and dark golden brown to really caramelise them - bit avoid burning. (Best to use frozen chopped onion, but it takes a little longer). Set to one side once done.
Add vegetable oil to a deep, hot pan.
Add the meat, diced potato and carrot, and fry them until meat changes colour.
Then add the fried onion from earlier.
Add water
Add soup stock.
Put the lid on the pan and cook for 15 mins.
Then Add the curry block, stir well and heat for the final 10 minutes.
Add soy sauce.
Service with nice Japanese rice,
