In this talk, Gregory will speak about his experiences as the first Information Security Officer of the newest University of California campus, and coming from a non-technical education. He will share observations of being "ISO" over a decade, the value of pursuing cybersecurity as a career despite not having a related background, and what he learned personally and professionally along the way. He will also discuss the importance of physical and mental health while working in cybersecurity, how non-technical skills can improve your technical work and set you apart, and the greatest reminder: you are not alone in this industry.

About the Speaker
Gregory has worked as a technology trainer at UC Davis, an instructor for the UCD University Extension, worked as the first ISO at UC Merced, and currently works in cybersecurity at CSU East Bay.
