A lot of people were surprised about the sudden announcement of the Oblivion remaster. I was surprised too. Loads of people are absolutely happy that a lot of the things that make Oblivion great are still there. I have given the remaster a try, but I encountered an unfortunate problem in the form of my RTX 3060 laptop not good enough to run it even at 30 FPS. So, I uninstalled it and reverted back to the original Oblivion, which runs buttery smooth, and is still a fun game to play to this day.

"I'm skeptical about 20-year-old remasters."

Why? It's Oblivion. It's a game that really sets the standards for a lot of open-world RPGs. If you ask me, Oblivion is the best Elder Scrolls game to recommend to people with great balance between solid RPG and solid combat, and the original is still there on Steam if you want to play that version.

"What was once fantastic, now remastered, will never hold up against modern masterpieces like Elden Ring."

Okay, you're just talking out of your ass at this point. First off, What's with the comparison to Elden Ring? I don't understand where that come from. Elden Ring is a masterpiece. I absolutely love that game. I think it's one of the greatest games of this decade, but to compare what Elden Ring is doing to Oblivion is not putting it at a level playing field.

Second, what do you mean it never holds up? Of course it will hold up. I'd even argue the original Oblivion still holds up to this day, and still worth playing to this day if your PC is unable to handle the remastered version. Just because a lot of its mechanics are not as refined as Elden Ring doesn't make it not fun to play.

"The bar has simply moved from safe open-world RPGs to what Elden Ring brought us all."

I don't care if Elden Ring moved the bar of open-world RPGs. That doesn't necessarily mean any of the previous open-world RPGs before Elden Ring are automatically worthless.

"I would love to be proven wrong, but I'm not."

Now that's just sheer arrogance. Just because you believe you're right doesn't mean you're actually right.
