Skip The Entire Deku Tree in Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64, there's a fairly easy way to skip the game's first dungeon entirely. Using a variation of The Infinite Sword Glitch, you can bypass the Inside the Deku Tree dungeon, which can save a WHOLE lot of time in a speedrun.
The setup is fairly simple, and the angles aren't particularly precise. I think most of the difficulty for this trick is in the timing, but if you fail, you can easily set it up and try again.
Normally you can't leave Kokiri Forest until you finish the Deku Tree dungeon, because the elf boy guarding the exit will block you from leaving. But if you hold Z to walk straight up to the wall directly to the left of the exit, you can face the wall and get as far to the left as the elf boy will allow you.
NOTE: This trick is way easier if you destroy the sign near the exit, so I would recommend cutting it down.
Anyway, once you're in position, tap Up C to go into first person mode and look to the right. You'll want your screen to show the wall covering a little more than half of your vision. For reference, the end of that wall should be positioned about halfway into the A Button's display at the top of the screen.
Once you're in the right place, Hold R to crouch, then hit B to stab your sword. Link will poke the wall in front of him, knocking him back. When you get knocked backward, press A with just the right timing to initiate a dialogue with the elf boy blocking your way. If you did it right, Link will be occupying the same space as the elf boy, and it looks really weird.
After ending the conversation, the elf boy will now be circling around Link, rather than blocking in front of him. To exit the forest, you can use a well-positioned roll to exit, OR you can slowly manipulate the position of the elf boy toward the left corner of the exit, and he will fall through the ground.
Either way, you should now be able to leave Kokiri Forest without having finished the Deku Tree dungeon.
Note that since you don't have the Kokiri's Emerald, you may need to perform some other glitches to progress the story later.
But hey, you did the Deku Tree skip in Ocarina of Time! This game has a ton of speedrunning tricks and glitches, so hopefully I get a chance to showcase more later.
