Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure - Darklight Crypt Time Attack [8:26 ~ Spyro]
So, it's been a while since I hosted anything to do with Skylanders then :P
Since Skylanders Giants is coming out next weekend, I saw it as a good time to finally do time attack runs on the game's Adventure Pack add-on chapters. Say what you like about the franchise, but it must be a good thing if it's been drawing attention for the younger members of my extended family too :)
For additional levels, they actually pack a lot of punch, some even rivaling the Creepy Citadel in the main game in regards to how much there is to go through. They each have their own individual rewards and gimmicks too, making them really special for those that come across them.
For today, I'm going to go through the first one I played, which was the Darklight Crypt pack. It also came with Ghost Roaster, whom I am seeing potential to use as a speedrunner thanks to his INCREDIBLE charge attack and great amounts of damage done with his ball and chain attack; though it all comes down to maxing out his attack roster that pinch more before testing him out officially. There's an awesome gimmick with the lock puzzles, which now have a fiery imp in there - touching them makes you start the puzzle ALL OVER AGAIN, making this fairly challenging the first time around.
Plus, from this point on I am now using a Hauppage PVR to record my game footage! And on this PC, it's a dream to use - no shutdown woes from what I've seen, plus the picture quality is just amazing!
And now, onto the speedrun details!
BONUS CHAPTER: DARKLIGHT CRYPT [8m26s]
Kind of an interesting choice of elements for the level. Sadly the only element I had something runnable to go through here is Spyro, though even then this level seemed more dependent on solving puzzles rather than intense combat. I got to say, this to me is the most interesting of the bonus content :D
Haunted Courtyard - Some fiddly navigation, particularly with the pushable block. In spite of that, I say this is a pretty good run through there. I obviously slowed down a bit with the first lock though; those fiery imps are a one hit kill.
Forest Walk - Great fight, not-so-great block puzzle strategy. I thought I had built the way back prior to getting the key, but realized that I still had to get back in. o_O
The Parapets - Lost my footing on the suspended blocks - that must've lost me about 10 seconds. Second lock puzzle went smoothly.
Haunted Village - I thought the house with the dimension portal was near the optional lock puzzle. Derp.
Hedge Maze - the place I'm most likely to dread when doing this stage. It's here that you really have to know what you're doing just to advance on. I think what I did is the optimal route for the keys, though the run for the one on the far right seems a little unsteady.
Beyond the Maze - Definitely my best run through the boss. Remember kids - there is no 'eye' in teamwork. :P Also, piiiiie!
I shall have the other chapters hosted throughout the course of the week. For now, thank you :D
