Smite Arena Odin Gameplay Changes
3You know...I haven't really played Odin since his rework until recently I....Like it in some regards but it feels kinda odd in others.
He really needs to put on his shield and then leap ideally for the most damage typically now..But why does the third skill do so little now? Meh.
For starters..He just dies SO easily now even in his Ring of Spears compared to how tanky or bulky he used to get. I don't want to play the Hercules card but...It's kind of unfair Herc is the one Warrior who can take beatings and dish them out but Odin can't.
However, his ultimate is more spammable cooldown wise, stops enemy healing inside it AND it doesn't trap allies. Those parts are cool with me. The problem is now within your ring you'll just get bombarded with enemy AOEs/CC and if you don't have Lunge up you are toast. I know this from experience so that is why I played safer this time around.
Heck, or they'll just get blink to escape your ultimate lol which some of them did. Odin's problem now is he's not much of a threat anymore.
Welp, so seems like the Odin rework didn't quite accomplish the goals Hi-Rez wanted but eh it's still something that can be fixed. For now though he really is outclassed. Why play Odin when I could just play Herc or Chaac and have things way easier and stay alive so much longer?
He might work better for Solo things now in other Modes but..That's about it..I can upload the other game if you guys want to show you that even when I built some defensive items on him Odin just dies so easily compared to how he was in his prime with the old kit. It just stinks dropping a big ring of spears but just dieing anyhow. I owe a lot of my survival to the Geb and his shield since Odin's..Doesn't cut it and you want to use to make Lunge hurt more anyhow.
My verdict is yeah you can still do well with the new Odin but...Nothing stands out about him compared to how he used to be. Ideally I'd love a version of him that had the old kit but with the ultimate unable to trap allies to prevent griefing. He just comes off as a one trick pony with the raven shout+lunge move, after that...He can't hurt them a whole lot and won't last long in the frontlines.
