The structure of this level is quite sprawling, with three separate peaks you can reach, as well as shortcuts and secret rooms along the way. I think in this case that's both good and bad. I enjoyed seeing what each route had to offer and liked how some of the secrets were hidden, but I'm not convinced the three branches are particularly distinct from one another in terms of theme or enemy types. There's also the fact that the last secret branch comes *after* one of the main branches, so unless you find the shortcut pipe at the beginning, you'll essentially play through two levels in one, with a time limit that's not very accommodating. Thankfully there's a midpoint in that last branch, but this also means there isn't a midpoint in either of the main branches, so be prepared to repeat a lot no matter where you die, which is another issue I have.
As for the platforming, sometimes it works, and sometimes it's irritating. The latter usually comes down to things like shells ambushing you from off-screen, dealing with enemies in cramped spaces, and making wall springboard jumps with low ceilings. Overall, I liked the idea of this level, but also had reservations about how it was done.
