Sneaky Doom | Operation: Arctic Wolf Redux | No Failure Run
2As some folks here may know from my constant ramblings, I actually REALLY dislike the original WolfenDoom mapsets. I find that a lot of them rely too much on mandatory secrets for progression, which I personally believe is a waste of the player's time instead of engaging them in any memorably pleasant way. I could probably make a whole video about how much I detest them as a concept often used by delusional devs who think they could be considered in the same remote area as "puzzles", but that's not the point of today's excursion.
Enter Operation: Arctic Wolf Redux, a mod that revamps the original Arctic Wolf into something that's actually playable. Gone are the insufferable progression where you have to trigger invisible linedefs to open up an alcove on the other end of the map just to hit a switch, with more sensible methods being used. Combat was also revamped, with things like being able to throw grenades or proper sniper rifles. I cannot recommend it more for folks looking into a classic WolfenDoom experience that doesn't suck navigational wise.
It's that reason alone that I've also decided to wiretear the thing so I can play it many times over with my favorite gameplay mods. I thought about running this with HDest, but considering the testbed for the wiretear being HDest, I figured why not run it with something different. Yes, the ol' sneakster. Been a while since I last used this mod config in Rheingold. I don't know if I'll be doing all the maps, since rushing this one wiping all the enemies instead of sneaking past them still nets me 20 minutes, but I'll see what I can do as I go along.
