The mellow yellow Snortin’ Norton is a jacked up 1971 Chevy Nova with a major attitude. It has done 1000 mile races through the desert and lived to tell the tale. Rumored to be powered by tequila - Azunia Anejo Tequila to be exact (although I highly doubt that), this 6,500 lbs Group 6 behemoth houses a “fire breathing” Chevy 350 cubic inch V8 engine built by Dales Speed & Marine. This replaces the stock 350 it came with. This Baja 1000 and Mint 500 veteran sits on $150 a piece American Racing Outlaw II wheels which are wrapped in $300 each General Tire Grabber 35×12.5×15 tires via a Dana 60 rearend. Braking power for the OG car-truck comes from four-wheel 2-piston disc brakes.
In this video we’ll also talk a little about the original Chevy Nova. We’ll tell you about how GM’s X platform superstar was able to undercut the Ford Falcon in the subcompact market with a 66% lower price in the newly minted and very lucrative compact car division.
Although it was seen up for sale for $30,000 just a few years ago, this off-road legend is far from being done with its legacy, as the car that’s named after a t-shirt shop can now be admired in Los Angeles’ Petersen Museum.
