About the song:
I started this on July 21 2018, I copypasted the entire module and began adding drums, hi-hats and bass. I never do that, I always go by sections, I write the notes, assign them instruments and balance things before going to the next section. But not this time, by copypasting the entire song I basically skipped all sections at once, and I was left confused. I had the hardest time with this song because I didn't get it, I didn't understand the structure, why some chords were what they were or what some instruments were supposed to be, I couldn't even tell what genre this is. Since the structure of the module was already finished, I tried out different basses first, and thought the Sonic 3D Blast bass was the best choice, but I had a hard time finding other instruments that mixed well with it, it was all pure trial and error with no clear end goal.

The first section I knew what to do with was 0:42--0:58. I used Sonic trumpets to go with a Classic Sonic feel, but despite my best effort it always felt bare. Then I did the previous section (0:24--0:41), which was an absolute nightmare. See how the first beat begins a little too early every time? That turned the module into a horrible mess. I had to either make the patterns longer (add more rows) and adjust every single other pattern in the song, which looked ugly and confused me, or increase the number of unique patterns and make the pattern matrix an annoying mess to fix later if I ever changed my mind. I did the latter, and every time I wanted to try a different arrangement of instruments, because I couldn't decide what to make FM or PSG, I had to change the patterns, it was really tedious and annoying, and to stop that I made all the patterns unique instead, but regardless I kept changing things and had to re-balance everything, again and again. Horrible mess. And when I finally made up my mind on that, I couldn't find good FM instruments, I spent days trying out instruments that didn't work. In the end instead I just focused on improving the section after (0:05--0:09), without making much progress. MONTHS OF TORTURE I SAY.

That was basically all I could do for about 6 months. It gave me a creative block, I could not unhear what I had. So I kinda gave up, and then some time later I had the idea of seeing what had Naofumi Hataya composed for the Genesis, maybe I could mimick his style. It did help me a lot, his jazz was pretty similar to this, now I had an idea of what I could do, it's just funny that I never noticed the composer was actually Tomoya Ohtani instead. And so, I came back with new ideas after months of not ever seeing the module or the song, and I fixed everything, the instruments, the volumes, the patterns, some effects, and boom the module is complete in like 3 days, then a few more days for more polish and correcting mistakes, and in 2 weeks it's actually all finished. What a christmas miracle.

I swear this is the most complex song I've ever covered. I want to see this transcribed in a music sheet so I can see what the hell the time signature is. 4/4 it ain't.
NOTE: Must be swinged 4/4, which in the module would be 4/5. The module is what's complex.

About the picture:
It's a mix of Sonic 3 & Knuckles with the Sonic 2 beta version of Casino Night Zone, with some edits to make it go along with the theme. The background is from Mushroom Hill, most of the lights are from Sonic 2 beta (thanks to The Spriters Resource), the rhombus lights are from Carnival Night, and the leaves on the floor and the brown blocks are from Sky Sanctuary. I'm not sure the color palette would actually work on a Genesis, but at least there are palettes, unlike my Luminous Forest picture.
