Red Gate Bridge is the last of the three City levels carved up from the original, scrapped Sunset Heights tag team level. Appropriately, the Metal Sonic fight here is apparently a reskinned version of the final Infinite fight. At least it's pretty cool, especially the Stardust Speedway US remix that plays here.
Speaking of music, if you want to know how quickly they were forced to throw this level and boss together, if you let Metal Sonic escape at the end (a very real possibility if you're going for the Moon Rings), the fight restarts, but with the default Red Gate Bridge music playing. I can't even fault them for that--this game obviously had a very troubled development and Red Gate Bridge shows that more than any other level.

You'll notice I wait around a bit before actually hitting Metal. This is because the only time the Red, Number, and Moon Rings show up are when he does the attack with the electric walls you need to quick step between. Otherwise, he's very easy to kill quickly if you bring Drill along. Drill is so busted you don't even need Sonic! You can also counter Metal's V. Maximum Overdrive Attack with a charged Drill attack, and this actually will take a quarter of his health off.
